IBSO News: SEA WORLD!

Hello IB Students!
A message from the President
I usually don't write letters for everyone to read because it seems too personal and supercilious. However, I cannot hold in my emotions any longer and I need to tell you how excited I am for IB to have its first field trip! Last year during my insane campaigning, I promised to change IBSO. Through my vision of FUNdraising, we were able to pay for all transportation costs ($3,000) for our field trip to Sea World! I reached my goal, and a lot sooner than I expected. I hope everyone else is just as excited for Sea World. I need to give a special thanks to Ms. Schinleber, Dr. Shaddix, the IBSO Officers (especially Ariel for successful candy sales), and everyone that has came to our FUNdraising events or helped. I am excited for IBSO to grow stronger for future years to come. There's still a lot of things that need to get done so stay tuned!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Tran
IBSO President
Message from Secretary Ariel Tang
This year was all about saving IBSO and to prove that we can make a difference contrary to what most people said at elections last year. We came through with our field trip and I think it's the start of much more. Here's to hard work and hardcore FUNdraising. It paid off!
WE DID IT!!!
These are from former presentations for IBSO.
Sea World Field Trip- IBSO Meet February 8
****Come to our IBSO Meet February 8, after school in Ms. Schinleber's room G158 to get all the information and all your questions answered about Sea World. If you have a question that must be answered immediately, please email etran135@aol.com. Otherwise, wait for the meeting! I'll bring cookies and lemonade to celebrate if you remind me :)****
Date and Times: February 28, 2013. We will be leaving the school at 8:00am and leaving Sea World at 2:00pm.
Form: You should be receiving your field trip form sometime this week in your English class. Please fill it out and turn it in to Ms. Schinleber's room G158 by February 22. You cannot go on the field trip if you do not turn it in on time, so don't procrastinate!
Cost: $25 ticket, Free if you have annual pass. Transportation is paid for by IBSO to and from Sea World. Please find transportation to go home from school after the field trip. Checks go to Cypress Creek High School.
Chaperones: We are still in need of chaperones! If we do not have enough, we cannot go on the field trip. Please email Ms. Schinleber at Jennifer.Schinleber@ocps.net for chaperone information and fill it out on the field trip form. Chaperones must be over 18 years old and an ADDitions volunteer. They can complete the ADDitions process by following the link below (if they have not done so already).
  1. Go to volunteers.ocps.net
  2. Select the School Volunteers box to the left of the screen
  3. Push the Online Application button
    once complete to press Submit.
Groups: Groups will be arranged when we have all the chaperones confirmed (which is why we need chaperones ASAP!) You do not have to stay with your arranged group and chaperone for the entire field trip, but you must check in with your group and chaperone periodically.
Unfortunately, we cannot bring non-IB students to the field trip even if they have Dr. Shaddix as they're counselor because we do not have the money to pay for additional students' transportation, otherwise all students would then have to pay for their own transportation.
What to bring February 28:
  • IBSO T-shirt: if you have not purchased one yet, you can get one at the Sea World Info Meeting February 8. They are $15, and the money goes to our field trip transportation costs. This is for easy identification, uniformity, and IB pride.
  • Check the weather for what to bring. You will be outside majority of the time. If it is sunny, bring sunglasses. If it may rain, bring an umbrella. If it's cold, bring a jacket, etc.
  • Spending money for food and souveneirs is at your own discretion.

Chick-fil-A Spirit Day for IBSO
All day February 1 Chick-fil-A will give IBSO a portion of their sales from CCHS students to raise more funds for our Sea World field trip! Come by in the morning drive-thru for a yummy breakfast and/or after school with friends! Please BRING YOUR CCHS ID so the funds go to IBSO.
Remember: more students=more food=more money!
Mark you calendars!

A message from Dr. Shaddix!
Get ready for selecting classes for next year. You have precious few electives, so think it through and select what you want.  I may not be able to schedule it, but I need to know what you want in order to try.  Also, sohpomores will select their standard and higher level classes.  Start talking with your teachers now about what will be your best selection!
